Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed expressed the opinion that it is not right to give mobile phones to children under the age of sixteen. He said that if children under 16 use mobile phones, they unknowingly get involved in many crimes. This age group does not have the ability to understand good and bad. He opined so at the discussion meeting on 'Child Health, Development and Protection' of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on the occasion of World Children's Day-2022. Dr. Md. Sharfuddin said that children who are addicted to mobile phones should be banned from using mobile phones. They cannot simultaneously reduce mobile phone addiction. For this reason, they will not be allowed to use mobile phones or be seen for a maximum of two hours a day, but not more than half an hour continuously. If you can do this, you may be protected from social media abuse. The meeting was organized by the Department of Public Health and Informatics of the University. The department released the results of various studies on children in the meeting. While speaking as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed said, if there is any kind of abuse on Facebook, justice will be done, it should be publicized more. If this can be promoted, children's internet and cyber crimes will be reduced to a great extent. He called for the coordination of various ministries to protect children. Professor Golam Rahman, Editor of the daily Ajker Kagoj and the keynote speaker at the event said that awareness should be created in using social media. Everyone needs to raise awareness about which likes and comments can be given. There is no substitute for awareness in combating cyber crime. Professor Syed Shariful Islam, Dean of Faculty of Preventive and Social Medicine and Chairman of Department of Public Health and Informatics of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University presided over the event.
